"I've never been one to believe in therapy. I was raised by a southern baptist preacher. There is nothing Jesus & prayer couldn't fix. I do believe this to be true most of the time. However our family got dealt a situation early this year that left one of us confused, depressed & riddled with anxiety. This even after much prayer & seeking the Lord. Listening to the Lord We reached out to Thea Langley for counseling. Because she functions in her gift, God heard our plea & answered our prayers through her. Restoration came through her wise words & sound counsel. I'm very hesitant to overshare anything personal but this has been too sweet a blessing not to share. If you find yourself needing a little help to overcome something in your life - pray 1st & if you need true wisdom & guidance don't hesitate to call Thea Langley."
"During an extremely difficult year, where I truly felt like my whole world was falling apart; several people told me that "you really should see someone". I didn't know where to even start. Plus, I felt like I was taking care of things okay. On one particular day when I was feeling that everything seemed to be crashing all around me, someone referred Thea to me. I called her right there, right then. From that very first conversation, over the phone, I felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. I finally had someone I could share everything with: how hurt, how mad , how scared, how embarrassed, how defeated I really was. And, she told me all that was normal, and then she helped build me back up. She helped me find the strength that I thought I lost. She gave me so much encouragement when I thought I couldn't take any more. She is honest, and up front about the road ahead. But, I needed that, too. I'm so thankful that I decided to pick up that phone, that day, and dial her number!"
"During the years, I have needed counseling for various reasons. Most of the time I found myself talking to qualified but dispassionate therapists. What I wanted and needed in a therapist was someone that I felt was vested in my well being. To fast forward to today, I am looking to be married again. When my fiance' and I decided to go to counseling before we married, we chose to go to Thea Langley @ Fountain City Counseling. She was, and is, the perfect choice for us. Thea is warm, caring and totally vested in our well being and in our future. She doesn't take sides, but rather puts perspective in what we are discussing, thus allowing us to ultimately make informed decisions together. Thea has provided us with a solid foundation which to build our future. We are blessed that we have Thea Langley as our counselor. "
"Though I tend to be a verbose individual, I’ve always been hesitant to talk about anything that is truly bothering me. I’ve never been one to cry either. Typically if I am crying, someone has either died or I’m so angry that I can’t see straight! My husband and I were the victims in a car accident that drastically affected our plans for our immediate future. It made me angry that because of another man’s lack of attention the rug had been pulled out from under us. Months after the accident, I had a crying meltdown on my husband. He had no idea that I had been so upset this whole time nor did he know how to help me. He was the one who suggested it might behoove me to seek therapy or counseling. I approached the idea with much hesitation. We all know the stigma attached to counseling or therapy. However, after a couple of weeks of mulling over the idea, I put out a few feelers with some friends. I was amazed to learn that everyone I talked to had been to counseling at some point in their life! Suddenly, I didn’t feel so “weird” anymore. Several people recommended Thea Langley. I knew Thea, but I didn’t really KNOW Thea. Our paths had crossed professionally, but our relationship was nothing more than acquaintances. I decided it would be nice to talk to someone who was neither a total stranger nor a well-known friend. In just three sessions, Thea helped me gain some great insight into myself. She helped me overcome the anger I felt at the driver of the car who had caused our accident. However, my current unhappiness had many more layers that she helped me peel away. I’ve always been a “yes” person whenever asked to do something. My inability to say no was quickly leading me to professional burn out. The job that I had once loved had become the greatest source of my stress. The insights she helped me achieve positively affected decisions I made concerning my job. I am now a much happier and satisfied employee and person!
Thea masterfully created a very professional, yet very relaxed atmosphere. There was nothing that felt uncomfortable or clinical about my sessions with her. There were no doubts about her confidentiality and discretion. It felt like having a cup of coffee and a conversation with a good friend. I would recommend Thea to anyone seeking counseling. She will make you feel comfortable and take away all the negative stigma attached to therapy."
"Thea helped me better understand how powerful words can be, especially in moments of disagreement. She helped my husband and I learn to communicate more effectively through the exercises that she performed with us."
"We affectionately refer to Thea as the “Teenage Whisperer” at our house. She truly has a gift for working with teenage girls and the work she did with our daughter was remarkable. Thea is kind and compassionate and our daughter immediately felt comfortable with her. She took our daughter from a place of depression and anxiety and taught her the life skills she needed to find her inner confidence and strength. She helped her learn how to better cope with conflict, how to cope with feelings of inferiority, how to thrive in social situations, how to lean more fervently on her faith, and how to really see her self-worth. We couldn’t believe the transformation that took place in such a short time. Teenage years are hard but, today, our daughter spends more time with our family instead of withdrawing to her room, she handles most peer conflicts on her own and in a mature and healthy way, she doesn’t seem to internalize things as much, she initiates and participates in more social activities, she’s more confident, and, most importantly to this mom…. her smile is back! (Insert happy tears here!) Words will never be able to express my appreciation for Thea @Fountain City Counseling. "
